Burton Albion leading the race to sign Dundee United star

Burton Albion are leading the race to sign Dundee United midfielder Scott Fraser, according to the Evening Telegraph.

Peterborough United, Blackpool and Hearts are also being linked with the Scotsman. He will be leaving Dundee United this summer after rejecting a new contract and favours a move to England.

Burton Albion are reportedly leading the race for him now. The Brewers will be playing in League One next season after their relegation from the Championship. Their manager, Nigel Clough, is preparing his squad for promotion and hopes to get a deal for Fraser over the line.

Fraser joined Dundee United at the age of 10 and rose through their youth ranks. The 23-year-old made his first-team debut in May 2014 away to Celtic. He was then loaned out for the 2014/15 season to Airdrie and played 30 games for them in all competitions, scoring 5 goals.

He then broke into Dundee United’s first-team after returning from his loan but could not prevent them from getting relegated in 2016. He has been a key player for them in the Championship since then but is now keen on a move away.

He would be a decent signing for Burton, who are hoping to compete at the top end of League One in the next campaign. If they can keep hold of players such as Liam Boyce, Lucas Akins and Marvin Sordell, they should be a force to be reckoned with next season.
