Blackburn Rovers’ midfield target could opt to remain with current club

Reported Blackburn Rovers transfer target Dylan McGeouch could yet opt to remain with current club Hibernian according to the Daily Record.

The 25-year-old Glasgow born midfielder’s contract at the Easter Road club is set to expire and the player is being tipped to move to the English Football League.

McGeouch was thought to be set to sign a pre-contract agreement at promoted Sky Bet League One outfit Blackburn Rovers but a conclusion to the deal has not been forthcoming and it has now been reported that Hibernian still have hopes that the player will opt to remain at the club.

The race for McGeouch’s services is certainly hotting up. Sky Bet Championship trio Brentford, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers are also said to be monitoring the situation closely and could compete with Blackburn Rovers for the Scot’s signature.

After failing to make the grade with Glasgow giants Celtic, McGeouch joined Hibernian in August 2014 on a loan deal which was later made permanent. During his time in Leith, McGeouch has won both the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship and William Hill Scottish Cup. The midfielder has made 121 appearances for the Hibees in which he has scored four goals.

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon has stated that keeping the core of this season’s squad together is his top priority over the summer and the club will no doubt keep fighting for McGeough.
