Top 50 Players of the EFL – 2nd: Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham)

Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon has been voted by you as the 2nd best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Sessegnon is the 2nd best player in the Football League. He has moved up 30 places from last year when he finished 32nd place on the Top 50 Players countdown.

Age is not a barrier for playing top class football but it is usually an indicator. While we have seen plenty of young players perform well in the Sky Bet Championship there are usually some problems with their play. Maybe they are inconsistent and are just as capable of putting in a stinker or they have a rash youthful temper which gets them into trouble. But Sessegnon does not have these problems.

Aged 17 for most of the season, Sessegnon put the rest of the league to shame with the standard of his performances. Becoming a left winger after previously being used as a left back, his pace was devastating to a lot of defences and he proved himself to be one of the top players in the league worthy of all those envious glances from other teams. In the 51 appearances he made this season, he scored 16 goals and made 7 assists on top of that.

Sessegnon may now be 18 but he will have to wait a bit longer for his first legal pint as they face Aston Villa in the play-off final.
