Plymouth Argyle midfielder Graham Carey has been voted by you as the 15th best player in the EFL.
Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Carey is the 15th best player in the Football League. He has moved up two places from last year when he finished 17th in the Top 50 Players Countdown.
Carey was a star last season which is why he got so high on the listen even though he was in Sky Bet League Two. But the main question, as there is with so many players who get promoted, is whether they will be able to adjust to a higher division. You can point to a lot of players who have been brilliant in one division but then have struggled when they have gone to a higher league.
Luckily for Plymouth, Carey didn’t just adjust to playing in Sky Bet League One, he excelled. Once again he was a star player for the club and led the team as they launched a bid for the play-offs. In 48 appearances, he scored 16 goals which is a number that a lot of strikers would be jealous of. His best game of the season probably came against Southend United when he was able to score two goals.
Next season Carey will hope to push Plymouth into the play-offs after they just missed out on the top six this time.
