Port Vale boss Neil Aspin holding talks over transfers

Port Vale boss Neil Aspin hopes that he’ll be able to of wrap up some more signings before the end of May.

According to the Stoke Sentinel, the manager has a number of players on his target list – including two midfielders, two strikers and a defender.

Goalkeeper Scott Brown has already joined the club from Wycombe Wanderers on a free transfer so far and manager Aspin wants to move quick to add more players to his squad.

Neil Aspin’s club are currently plying their trade in League 2 and he wants to add up to nine players to his squad in a bid to try and help drag his side higher up the table in the next campaign.

After taking the managerial hotseat at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, Aspin managed to keep the club out the relegation places in the league. Now, he has his first summer transfer window to bring in the players that he wants.

Aspin’s managed Halifax and Gateshead so far in his career as a manager and Port Vale is the first League 2 club that the former player has taken charge of.

Port Vale scored the third lowest amount of goals of the sides not relegated in League 2 during the 2017/18 campaign and Neil Aspin has decided that a striker is a position that needs strengthening due to that record.

As mentioned, he also has two midfielders on his wanted list and also a defender – the club conceded 67 goals in the 2017/18 season, the fifth most of the sides not relegated in League 2, which could be why a defender’s on the Vale boss’ wanted list.
