Top 50 Players of the Year – 29th: Ryan Woods (Brentford)

Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods has been voted by you as the 29th best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Woods is the 29th best player in the Football League. This is the first time he has been on the Top 50 Players countdown.

It used to be that the majority of teams in the Sky Bet Championship looked to the division below to see who they should be signing. But with there being more money than ever in the league, they are now looking abroad as well as signing the best players off eachother if possible. Brentford sign plenty of players from abroad but they do also look at lower divisions which pays off with players like Woods.

Woods signed last season and he did well but obviously he needed a full summer with the club before showing his true potential. This season he was brilliant, running the show from midfield. In his 40 appearances for the club, he would make three assists while also getting on the score sheet once. Woods had a number of great performances as well with games against Burton Albion, Leeds United and Bolton Wanderers being particularly great and are some of the reasons he has made it onto this countdown.

Woods will now hope to help Brentford to push up the Championship table and make it into the play-offs next year.
