Cardiff City want summer deal for Crystal Palace midfielder

Cardiff City are interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur, as per a report by Wales Online.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season meaning he will be available to sign on a free transfer. He is believed to be weighing up his future.

Cardiff City would certainly be a fresh challenge for him. The Bluebirds will be playing in the Premier League next season after an impressive campaign under Neil Warnock where they have shocked everybody by finishing second behind Wolves.

The Welsh side are now looking at potential signings as they prepare for a season in the top flight. James McArthur would be a shrewd signing as he would bolster their midfield options and he has bags of experience in the Premier League.

McArthur, who is a Scotland international with 32 caps, started his career at Hamilton Academical and went onto play 192 games for the Scottish side. He was then brought to England in 2010 for around £500,000. He spent four years with the Latics and won the FA Cup with them in 2013.

He was then signed by Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee in 2014 after playing in the Championship and the Europa League with Wigan in the 2014/15 season. He has since played over 100 games for the Eagles in the Premier League.

A move to Premier League new boys Cardiff City could be on the cards for McArthur and he would be an impressive signing by them.
