PREVIEW: Millwall welcome Fulham to the Den in top-of-the-table clash

The race for Championship promotion heats up tomorrow night as Millwall host London rivals Fulham in front of a sold-out crowd at The Den in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Millwall are unbeaten in the league since New Year’s Day and face the only other side in English football with a better unbeaten run. The Cottagers are unbeaten in the league in 2018 and have moved from 12th to 3rd in that time. Both teams are off the back of 1-1 draws, Millwall gained a valuable point against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last time out while Fulham conceded a last minute equaliser against West London rivals Brentford that sealed Wolves’ promotion back to the Premier League.

Victory for the Lions will see them move 4 points clear of 7th place Derby County until at least tomorrow, while Fulham can move into the top 2 with a victory, if only until Saturday when Cardiff host Nottingham Forest.

Millwall are winless in 4 home games vs Fulham since winning 4-3 in April 1982 however they have only lost 1 of their last 13 matches on a Friday, their most recent loss coming in December 2014 against Bolton Wanderers at home, the last time they were in the division.

The visitors can name an unchanged side as can the hosts. However, Millwall will be without Byron Webster who is still recovering from injury, while Ben Thompson is doubtful. Slavisa Jokanovic will be without strikers Floyd Ayite and Sheyi Ojo.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanivic has won all 3 matches vs Millwall in his managerial career, twice for Watford and once against Fulham and he was full of praise for the home side in his weekly press conference.

“They are fighting for important things too, they are going to be motivated, they are on a good unbeaten run, like us.”

“The manager did a fantastic job, they follow one way of playing football, it’s a different style to how we play, they are aggressive, they are solid, they are strong.”

From the other camp, Millwall manager Neil Harris also spoke highly of his side’s opponents and is relishing tomorrow night’s match.

“The atmosphere will be electric and I can’t wait to see my players perform in that scenario.”

“Fulham should be under pressure because they should be very close to the top 2, if not in it.”
