Millwall by Jay Robertson

  • ianhollowayUnlike many sides in the Championship, the Lions have looked further afield for new signings. It is fair to say that Millwall have taken a gamble in the transfer window in signing Lee Gregory from non-league Halifax Town for £250,000.
  • Last season, Steve Lomas took charge of the Lions, but his tenure at The Den didn’t last long. After losing 18 out of his 24 games in the managerial position, he was sacked on Boxing Day.The former West Ham player had a tough job getting the fans on side and it was not meant to be for the Irishman at the Den.
  • Millwall looked certain to go down up until April last season, but, Ian Holloway managed to pull the team together and graft out an 8 game unbeaten run to secure safety for the South London club. Can they hope for a better season this time around?
  • Holloway has implemented his well known style of play on the Millwall players and they’ve taken it in their stride. After having an impressive pre-season, the Lions could be the surprise package of the Championship and will be certain to cause a few upsets over the next nine months.
