Ipswich Town

  • 2065369346Ipswich have lost their star man from last season in Aaron Cresswell who has joined West Ham. They have been busy with comings in though signing five players and bringing in a further three on loan.
  • Manager Mick McCarthy has claimed the Championship title twice in his managerial career. Once with Sunderland and once with Wolves. Although Ipswich are not among the favourites for the division under McCarthy they are well in the mix for the play-offs.
  • David McGoldrick is set to be in the squad for the opening game of the season. The striker twinned well with Daryl Murphy as the pair scored 18 goals in 22 games before McGoldrick tore the medial ligament in his knee in February and was out for the remainder of the season.
  • This season is Ipswich’s 13th successive season in the second tier. The are part of the furniture and have not made the play-offs since the 2004/05 season where they finished 3rd just 2 points away from automatic promotion. Ten years on can the Tractor Boys finally return to the Premier League?
