Former Northern Ireland international remains favourite for the Scunthorpe United job

Grant McCann remains the favourite for the Scunthorpe United job and is priced at 1/1 by SkyBet.

The Iron, who are currently 6th in League One and in the Play-Off places, are currently managed by Nick Daws until the end of the season. Andy Dawson is his assistant.

Scunthorpe United sacked Graham Alexander last month after a poor run of results. This raised a few eyebrows but looks to have paid off with them looking likely to get into the Play-Offs under Daws.

However, Daws is not the favourite for the full-time job for next season. In fact, he is priced at 5/1. The favourite is Grant McCann.

He was sacked by Peterborough United in February and has been out of work since. He played over 100 games for the Iron as a player as well as having spells at West Ham United, Barnsley, Cheltenham Town and Peterborough United. He also made 39 caps for Northern Ireland.

McCann got his first managerial role at Peterborough in May 2016. Last season was his first full campaign in charge of the Posh and his side finished 11th in the league. Despite a good start to this season, he was sacked after his side failed to win in seven matches and was replaced by Steve Evans.

The 37-year-old deserves another chance in the game and obviously knows Scunthorpe United well from playing there so this seems a good match.
