Sheffield United battling it out with Rangers for Rotherham United midfielder

Sheffield United and Rangers are both keen on signing Rotherham United midfielder Will Vaulks, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old has had an impressive season in League One with the Millers under Paul Warne and they look set to face a battle to hold onto him this summer.

Championship side Sheffield United are said to be interested. Chris Wilder’s side have had an impressive campaign after their promotion from League One last season and he will be eager to further bolster his squad next season.

The Blades may see Vaulks as someone who can strengthen their midfield. However, they will face competition from Scottish Premier League giants Rangers. The Glasgow side are set to have a busy summer with plenty of comings and goings expected at Ibrox. League One side Wigan Athletic have also been credited with an interest.

Vaulks started his career at Tranmere Rovers but never broke into the first-team at Prenton Park. He gained first-team experience with a loan spell at non-league side Workington in 2012/13 and this earned him a move to Scotland with Falkirk in 2013.

He impressed at Falkrik and was named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year for the Scottish Championship in the 2013/14 season. He was signed by Rotherham United in July 2016 when they were in the Championship.

He has shown that he is a solid player and has slotted in nicely into the Millers’ team this season. However, he could be on his way in the summer with Sheffield United and Rangers on his tail.
