Top five results in the Football League this weekend

It was a weekend full of action as the season is coming to an end. Here are the top five results in the Football League this weekend –

5) Port Vale 1-0 Lincoln City

Port Vale all but secured their League Two status with a hard-fought win over promotion-chasing Lincoln.

Defender Antony Kay scored the only goal of the game as the Valiants moved nine points clear of the drop zone with just three games left to play.

The goal came after 63 minutes when Kay rose highest to meet David Worrall’s chipped free-kick and guide the ball past the static Ryan Allsop into the net.

The EFL Trophy winners continued to press for an equaliser and it took a superb save from Sam Hornby after 79 minutes to deny Matt Green from 25 yards out and secure all three points for Vale.
