West Bromwich Albion are keen on a move for Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton, as per a report by Sportslens.

It appears that the Baggies are preparing for life in the Championship next season and they see Hutton as a potential signing for the summer.

The experienced right-back is out of contract at Villa Park at the end of the season and can leave them on a free transfer as it stands. Championship sides Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town have also been linked with a move for him.

Hutton has played for Aston Villa since 2011. He had previously played for Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland. Since joining Villa, he has had loan spells away at Nottingham Forest, Bolton Wanderers and RCD Mallorca.

He is now a target for West Brom. The Baggies are currently bottom of the Premier League and look like they will be playing Championship football again next season. Nevertheless, they have a strong core of players and if they can keep hold of some of these then they will be a force to be reckoned with in the second tier.

Hutton is a vastly experienced player at this level and will have a variety of options in the summer. He has played over 150 games for Villa and is a Scotland international. Could a move to the Hawthorns be on the cards for him?
