Birmingham City striker set to return for trip to Wolves

Birmingham City manager Garry Monk is hoping to be able to call upon striker Sam Gallagher when his side travel to Molineux to face Sky Bet Championship league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday according to Birmingham Live.

The 22-year-old Crediton born hotshot has not played for the Blues since their 3-2 defeat to Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium a little over month ago with the youngster having picking up a calf injury.

Gallagher has been missed with Birmingham City having collected just one point from their last two fixtures but it has been reported that the player is ready to hand his manager a boost by being available for selection for the derby day clash at Wolves on Sunday.

The Blues signed Gallagher on a season-long loan deal from English Premier League club Southampton in August. The player has gone on to make 31 appearances for Birmingham City in all competitions in which he has scored seven goals.

Last season, the striker spent a similar spell with Blackburn Rovers. Despite the Lancashire club being relegated on the final day of the season with current club Birmingham City avoiding the drop themselves, Gallagher netted an impressive 12 goals for Rovers. The player has not featured for parent club Southampton in a competitive fixture since the 2013/2014 season.
