Five players Reading could lose for free in the summer

Reading have had a difficult season following their Play-Off final defeat to Huddersfield Town in May 2017. Here are five players they could lose for free in the summer-

Stephen Quinn- The Republic of Ireland international’s contract expires at the end of the season. He has had a tough time at Reading since he joined them in 2015 with injuries. The former Sheffield United and Hull City man looks set to become a free agent in the summer.

Anssi Jaakkola- He signed for the Royals in 2016 as a back-up goalkeeper. The Finnish shot stopper’s deal is up in the summer. He has previously played for Siena, Slava Prague, Kilmarnock and Ajax Cape Town prior to moving to Reading.

Joseph Mendes- The French striker has struggled to get into Reading’s team and looks set to depart for nothing in the summer when his contract expires. He joined in 2016 from French Ligue 2 side La Havre but has failed to make an impact in England.

Jonathan Bond- The 24-year-old goalkeeper is currently out on loan at League One side Peterborough United and is likely to leave Reading on a permanent deal in the summer. The former Watford ‘keeper has fallen down the pecking order at the Madejski Stadium.

Deniss Rakels- The Latvian winger has struggled to get into Reading’s team and was shipped out on loan to Polish side Cracovia in January. His Reading career appears to be over with his contract up in June.
