Birmingham City have given their hopes of surviving the dreaded drop to Sky Bet League One a huge boost with a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers at The Macron Stadium.
Lukas Jutkiewicz netted the only goal of the match in the first half while The Blues battled bravely to the very end after Che Adams was sent off with 23 minutes remaining.
The result leaves Garry Monk’s men in 21st place, five points clear of Barnsley who occupy the final relegation spot. On an evening which could have confirmed both Sunderland and Burton Albion’s relegations to the third tier, Birmingham City fans took to Twitter to celebrate an excellent result.
@GarryMonk we can not thank you enough the change you have made into the team, seeing them fighting and believing in themselves, we KEEP RIGHT ON!! #BCFC #KRO

Nothing achieved yet but the turnaround has been impressive. Twists and turns still to come, let’s keep our feet on the ground and see if we can finally get a league win against our bogey team on Saturday #KRO #BCFC

Massive win Blues. Get in! You can see the impact of Monk when we restricted Bolton to 0 shots on target despite being down to 10 men for 25 mins. #bcfc #kro
