Derby County are keen on a summer move for Millwall striker Lee Gregory, according to the Derby Telegraph.
The 29-year-old’s contract at Millwall is due to expire at the end of the season meaning he could leave them on a free transfer. However, Derby are reportedly willing to spend £750,000 on the striker.
Gregory has scored 10 goals for the Lions this season and has been a key player for Neil Harris’ side. They are currently just outside the Play-Off places in the Championship and have their fans dreaming of a promotion to the Premier League.
Derby County, on the other hand, saw their promotion chances weakened after a poor run of results but hope to have got their season back on track with a 1-0 away win at Preston North End on Monday.
Lee Gregory is a target for Gary Rowett’s Rams in the summer. He was linked with a move to the IPro in January but remained at Millwall. Derby are keen on adding some more attacking options for the next campaign to bolster their attack.
Gregory joined Millwall in June 2014 from non-league side FC Halifax Town. He has adapted well to the step up from the National League (formerly the Conference) and has formed a great strike partnership at Millwall with Steve Morison.
The Lions’ fans will be hoping they can tie Gregory onto a new contract. However, with Derby being linked, they could face a battle in holding onto him in the summer.
