Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ben Alnwick wants to sign a new deal at the club, according to TheBoltonNews.co.uk.
The 31-year-old shot stopper has established himself as Bolton’s number one goalkeeper this season and has impressed for the Championship side.
His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning he would be free to leave them on a free transfer. However, he is keen to sign a new deal with the Trotters and his representatives have spoken to the club regarding a new deal.
A new contract for Alnwick could depend on what division Bolton will be playing in next season. They are just above the bottom three in the Championship at the moment and are in a relegation battle as it stands.
Alnwick joined the Trotters in August 2016 on a free transfer from Peterborough United. He helped Phil Parkinson’s side gain promotion from League One last season.
After starting his career at Sunderland, Alnwick was snapped up by Tottenham Hotspur in 2007 for £900,000. However, he never broke into the first-team at White Hart Lane and was loaned out to Luton Town, Leicester City, Carlisle United, Norwich City, Leeds United, Doncaster Rovers and Leyton Orient.
He left Spurs in 2012 to join Barnsley. Since then he has played for Charlton Athletic, Leyton Orient, Peterborough United and now Bolton. He seems to have found a home at Bolton and their fans will be hoping he can sign a new deal.
