Breaking news from Sky Sports is filtering though that Blackpool have had to cancel their Spanish pre-season tour due to lack of players.

The Seasiders find themselves struggling within their current situation as just eight professionals are currently contracted to the club.

At the end of last season Blackpool saw a staggering 27 players leave Bloomfield Road & with only one signing to date  it doesn’t look look like things are going to plan for new boss Jose Riga.

Chairman Karl Oyston has reportedly told the players that the Championship clubs tour has been cancelled so to allow time to recruit new face.

The team in question does not included a keeper as former Tangerine Matt Gilks left the club after being offered a reduced contract at the club, he then went on to join newly promoted Burnley on a two-year-deal.

After being questioned about recent events Oyston is stating that is is nothing wrong at the club:

‘There is no panic, In fact, I see it as a benefit rather than a downside. It allows the manager to bring in his own team, as opposed to a manager picking up a squad that is already overloaded and he doesn’t think is good enough.’

With only 25 days to go until Blackpool have to face Nottingham Forest in their season opener fans will be hoping things quickly turn around, however at this moment in time the situation is not a positive one.
