Cardiff City could move for Watford striker if they get promoted to the Premier League

Cardiff City could be offered the chance to sign Watford striker Andre Gray in the summer, according to Inside Wales Sport.

The 26-year-old striker joined Watford in the summer for a fee of around £18.5 million. However, he has struggled in front of goal for the Premier League side and has scored just 4 goals.

The Hornets are apparently keen to offload him in the summer and could offer him to Cardiff City for a cut-price fee, should the Bluebirds maintain their form and get promoted to the Premier League.

Gray turned down a contract offer from Burnley to join Watford last summer but a move has not worked out for him. A fresh start at Cardiff City could potentially be appealing to him.

He was prolific for Sean Dyche’s Burnley during his two year spell at Turf Moor. He scored 23 goals to help them win the Championship title in 2016 and then scored 9 goals in the top flight last season to help keep the Clarets up.

He started his career at Shrewsbury Town and then played in non-league for the likes of AFC Telford United and Hinckley United before he signed for Luton Town. After a prolific two seasons with the Hattters, he was snapped up by Championship side Brentford.

He scored 18 goals in his only season with Brentford and moved to Burnley in the season after. There is no doubt that Gray is a top striker and would be an impressive signing by Cardiff City. With them currently on the brink of the Premier League, their fans should expect more rumours like this one to come.
