Premier League sides must pay astronmical fee for Championship star

According to a report in the Bristol Post, Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are going to have to dig deep if they show true interest in landing Norwich star James Maddison.

The article says that the Canaries “are willing to sell” Maddison this summer and say that the Norfolk-based side have “slapped a £25million price-tag on his services.”

21-year-old Maddison arrived at Carrow Road in 2016 from Coventry City and has been in fine fettle this campaign, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists in the Sky Bet Championship. He has another goal and three assists in Norwich’s Carabao Cup campaign, this level of threat no doubt alerting the aforementioned teams.

Middle of the table Norwich are said by the Bristol Post “expected to cash in” on the youngster “with their parachute payments finishing this year.” They add that the young attacking midfielder has been “watched extensively” by a number of clubs with Premier League leaders Manchester City also name-checked.

This season has been the one where the Coventry-born young star has blossomed for the Canaries, his season total of 14 goals and 10 assists forming the overall bulk of his output at the club. Since arriving at Norwich two years ago, he has featured in a total of 45 games for the club, scoring 15 and assisting 12 goals.

He has spent time out on loan at SPL side Aberdeen last term, featuring in 17 games where he scored twice and set up seven assists for the Dons.
