The three early favourites for the Ipswich Town job

Ipswich Town confirmed yesterday that Mick McCarthy will leave them at the end of the season. Here are the three early favourites for the role-

Danny Cowley, 6/4 on SkyBetThe Lincoln manager is the early front runner for the role. He has done an outstanding job with the League Two side. Having had early managerial spells at Concord Rangers and Braintree Town, he took charge of the Imps in the National League last season and guided them to the title. He also took them to the Fifth round of the FA Cup.

Tony Mowbray, 5/2- The experienced boss is the manager of League One side Blackburn Rovers. Despite getting relegated to the third tier with Rovers last season, they stuck by Mowbray and he has done an impressive job with them this season and looks to be guiding them back to the Championship. The former Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City boss would be unlikely to leave for Ipswich should Blackburn get promoted into the same division.

Shefki Kuqi, 3/1- The former Finland striker played for the Tractor Boys in his playing days and is being linked with a return as manager. The 41-year-old has gone into management after retiring and is currently the manager of Finnish side FC Inter Turku at the moment. They play their football in the Veikkausliiga, which is the first division in Finland.
