Five players Burton Albion could lose for free in the summer

Burton Albion are in a relegation battle at the bottom of the Championship with Nigel Clough at the helm. Here are five of their players who they could lose for free in the summer-

Stephen Bywater- The experienced goalkeeper has made the number one spot at the Pirelli Stadium his own this season. However, the former Derby County goalkeeper is out of contract in the summer and could be a free agent.

Jake Buxton- Another former Derby County player, Buxton’s contract at Burton is also up in June. The 33-year-old joined the Championship side in June on a one-year deal.

Tom Naylor- The 26-year-old can play as either a centre-back or a central midfielder. The former Mansfield Town and Derby County man was a key part of the Burton side who won promotion from League One in 2016. He is one they will want to tie down on a longer deal.

Lloyd Dyer- The 35-year-old has been a key player for Burton over the past couple of seasons. The former Millwall, MK Dons, Leicester City, Birmingham City and Burnley winger has shown that he still has a few years left in him and Burton will hope they can get a deal done for him before his contract expires.

Luke Varney- The well-travelled striker has been with Burton Albion since he joined them from Ipswich Town in January 2017. The 35-year-old forward could be looking for a new club in the summer but will have some suitors as he is a vastly experienced Championship player.
