PREVIEW: Chesterfield v Notts County

Chesterfield are in desperate need of three points in Sky Bet League Two when they take on local rivals Notts County at the Proact Stadium this afternoon.

The Spireites are six points adrift of safety but they have the bonus of having three games in hand on 22nd placed Grimsby Town who were thumped 4-0 by Coventry City at The Ricoh Arena yesterday.

Chesterfield go into the match having to deal with several absentees. Defender Ian Evatt and midfielder Jordan Sinnott are not yet fit to feature while Gozie Ugwu is still some way off a return and Sam Hird has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Midfielder Louis Reed could return to the starting XI after completing a two-match suspension.

Notts County make the short trip into Derbyshire without defender Ben Hall and midfielder Liam Walker who are away on international duty. Other than those two absentees, manager Kevin Nolan has no new concerns to contend with as his side look to build on their four-match unbeaten run in Sky Bet League Two.

The match has been selected for live television coverage on Sky Sports Football and is scheduled to kick-off at 1.30pm. Tickets are available up until kick-off for home supporters.
