Glasgow giants Rangers consider summer move for PNE flop

Glasgow giants Rangers are thought to be weighing up a summer move for Preston North End striker Louis Moult according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old Stoke-on-Trent born goal machine was prolific for former club Motherwell earlier this season but has failed to hit the back of the net for new club Preston North End.

Moult joined The Lilywhites in January in a reported £450,000 deal from The Steelmen and while the player has featured for his new club on seven occasions, he has failed to break his goalscoring duck.

With the forward having failed to make the desired impact in his Deepdale career to date, it has been reported that Scottish Premiership club Rangers are considering launching a summer transfer bid to take the player back to Scotland.

The Gers were thought to be interested in Moult when he was at Motherwell. The player was a thorn in their side, scoring both goals as the Lanarkshire club defeated Rangers 2-0 in the Betfred Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park in October, while he netted twice against the men from Ibrox in matches last season.

Despite starting his career with hometown club Stoke City, Moult dropped into non-league football to launch his career with the likes of Nuneaton Town and Wrexham. The player netted 23 goals in just 51 appearances for the latter resulting in a move to Motherwell. While at Fir Park, Moult averaged over a goal every other game, an impressive achievement while playing for one of Scotland’s less fashionable top flight clubs.
