Nottingham Forest keen to sign Premier League goalkeeper

Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest are keen to sign goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, according to today’s print edition of the Daily Mirror.

Since signing for the Reds on-loan on January’s deadline day, the Watford shot-stopper has impressed thoroughly – keeping clean sheets in each of his three previous matches.

His consistent form for the Sky Bet Championship has helped Aitor Karanka’s side open a 13-point gap between themselves and the relegation spots with eight games still to play.

But things were not quite as pleasing for Pantilimon when he first moved to The City Ground, suffering two back-to-back 2-0 losses in his first two matches.

But since then the former Manchester City goalkeeper has helped Forest go on a seven-game unbeaten run, including a 0-0 draw with local rivals Derby County earlier this month.

His consistent form has understandably earned interest from the Reds who would like to secure his services for his long-term.

Added to this, a permanent move to the City ground could benefit the Romanian, with first-team chances for Watford looking unlikely.

The Hornets signed Swedish shot-stopper Pontus Dahlberg in January. Currently 19-years-old the young ‘keeper has plenty of potential will add to the fight to be Watford’s number one.

The Hornets’ current first-choice goalkeeper is Orestis Karnezis, who came in for the injured Heurelho Gomes, while Daniel Bachman is another option.

Therefore, a permanent move to the City ground could benefit the 6ft 8in tall goalkeeper as it would allow him to consolidate his role as a regular starter.
