Former Swansea City boss heavily backed to become Reading manager

Former Swansea City boss Paul Clement has been heavily backed to become the next manager of Sky Bet Championship club Reading according to the latest odds from English Football League sponsors Sky Bet.

The 46-year-old Londoner has been out of work since being sacked by The Swans in December following a poor first half of the season at the Liberty Stadium.

Sky Bet Championship club Reading are currently searching for a new manager after parting with former boss Jaap Stam and according to the latest odds from English Football League sponsors Sky Bet, Clement has been backed in from around 8/1 to 1/10 on to land the role.

The odds on Clement being unveiled as Reading boss are so short that it would seem that his appointment is imminent, although The Royals do not need to hurry to find a new boss with the club having no fixture this coming weekend due to the international break.

Clement has previously worked as an assistant manager at European giants Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid before moving into management with Derby County in summer 2015. The former non-league player took charge of The Rams on just 33 occasions before he was sacked a little over eight months into the job.

In his last managerial job with Swansea City, Clement won 34.1% of his matches in charge and lasted a little under a year at the helm.
