Nottingham Forest want summer move for Sporting Lisbon defender

Nottingham Forest want to make Tobias Figueriedo’s loan move from Sporting Lisbon permanent in the summer, according to the Nottingham Post.

The 24 year-old has a clause in his loan contract that will make his move from Portugal permanent and it is “very likely” that Forest will activate this.

Figueiredo has been impressive for the Championship side since his January switch. He was one of eleven signings that Aitor Karanka made in the transfer window.

Having played all his career so far in Portugal, Figueiredo has adapted well to life in England and Nottingham Forest fans will be hopeful of signing him.

He joined Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon at the age of 12 in 2006 having previously been at his local side SC Penalva do Castelo. He made his debut in August 2012 for Sporting B.

He became a regular for Sporting’s B team and was promoted to their first team in 2014. However, he struggled to nail down a regular starting place and was loaned out to CF Reus in Spain. On his return to Sporting, he played 26 times in two seasons.

He was then loaned out to Sporting’s fellow Primeira Division side Nacional last season. He played 23 games for them last season and was out-of-favour at his parent club on his return. He joined Forest on loan in January and made his debut away at Burton Albion.

Figueiredo is still only 24 and has a bright future ahead of him. He would be a very shrewd signing by Aitor Karanka and would be an exciting one for their fans.
