PREVIEW: Blades looking to storm into top six

Sheffield United will be looking to move into the top six tomorrow when they host Nottingham Forest.

The Blades sit just two points and one place behind Middlesbrough who occupy the final play-off spot.

Forest, despite showing promise towards the start of the season, have dropped to 16th in the Sky Bet Championship. The Reds have no relegation worries as they are 15 points clear of Birmingham City who sit in the drop zone.

United appear to be in inconsistent form having won one, drawn one and lost one of their last three games. Their last fixture was a home game against relegation threatened Burton Albion. Chris Wilder’s side were good value for the points as they brushed the Brewers aside.

Goals from Enda Stevens and David Brooks secured the points and kept the pressure on Middlesbrough. The Sky Bet League One champions have spent much of the season in the top six, however their inconsistent form has perhaps been their issue in 2018.

Forest will be hoping to go seven unbeaten when they travel to Bramall Lane tomorrow, with Aitor Karanka’s men not tasting defeat in over a month.

Their last fixture was a tightly contested East Midlands derby which ended 0-0 at the City Ground. Forest were strong at the back, but the home side failed to register a single shot on target in the 90 minutes.

Despite playing against ten men for the last 20 minutes, Forest were unable to break down Derby County.

These two sides met earlier in the season at the City Ground with the Reds taking all the points. John Lundstrum put the Blades in the lead with just three minutes on the clock. However, that lead didn’t last long with Jason Cummings scoring an equaliser just six minutes later.

Everton loanee Kieran Dowell scored the winner later on in the first half to secure the points for the Reds against the in-form Blades.
