PREVIEW: Leaders looking to strengthen their grip on promotion

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to strengthen their grip on the Premier League when they host Burton Albion this Saturday.

Wolves are sat top of the Sky Bet Championship, just three points ahead of Cardiff City who have recently cut the gap on the leaders. Nuno’s side however do still maintain a ten point gap over third placed Aston Villa.

Burton find themselves in trouble again this season with the Brewers currently sat in the relegation zone. Clough’s side sit just three points behind Barnsley who are just outside the drop zone.

Wolves are coming off the back of an impressive response on Tuesday night. They beat Reading 3-0 at Molineux. A brace from full-back Matt Doherty and a smart finish from Benik Afobe saw the league leaders bounce back emphatically.

Nuno’s men had previously tasted defeat to both Aston Villa and Fulham which has really thrown the title race wide open with Cardiff City closing the gap to just three points.

Burton were not so fortunate on Tuesday night as they came up against Sheffield United away from home. Goals from Enda Stevens and David Brooks condemned Clough’s side to their 21st league defeat of the season.

The Brewers will be hoping to put a better performance against Wolves than they did in the reverse fixture. Nuno’s men stormed to a 4-0 win at the Pirelli Stadium.

Diogo Jota, Romain Saiss, Ruben Vinagre and Leo Bonatini scored the goals that day as the side from the West Midlands were absolutely ruthless.
