An updated five potential candidates for the Oxford United job

Oxford United are still in the hunt for a new manager. It is an attractive job and they are not short of option. Here is an updated five potential candidates-

Karl Robinson- The current Charlton Athletic boss is sill being linked with a switch to Oxford United. This seems a shock due to him doing well with Charlton at the moment. He has got experience of being promoted from League One before from when he guided MK Dons to the Championship in 2015.

Derek Fazackerley- He is currently in caretaker charge of the U’s and has been doing a decent job. Should he take them on a good run of form, he could be considered for the full-time role.

Brian McDermott- The former Reading and Leeds United manager is also in the frame for the Oxford job. He has managed Reading in the Premier League and deserves another chance in management. He would also be a impressive coup for a League One side. Oxford would also be a good opportunity for him to get back into football.

Steven Gerrard- Like Frank Lampard, Sol Campbell and Craig Bellamy, Steven Gerrard is an ex-footballer who has been linked with this role. He is the Liverpool U18s manager at the moment but could see this as an opportunity to get a job in the Football League.

Patrick Kluivert- It is a surprise to see the former Ajax, AC Milan, Barcelona, Newcastle United, Valencia and PSV star being linked with the Oxford job. It seems like they are keen on appointing a big name. It will be interesting to see who they go for.
