Fulham to battle with Arsenal to sign Benfica starlet

Fulham are to rival Arsenal in the race to sign Benfica winger Andrija Zivkovic, according to ClubCall.

The Championship side are flying at the moment and are in contention for a promotion to the Premier League with the way things are going. They are already being linked with a signing for the summer, with Zivkovic reportedly on their radar.

The 21 year-old is highly rated by Portuguese giants Benfica and is being scouted by some top clubs around Europe, including Arsenal. However, Fulham will be hoping that their manager Slavisa Jokanovic’s links to Zivkovic’s old side Partizan can help them in a potential deal.

Jokanovic started his managerial career with Partizan when Zivkovic was a youngster there. The Serbian international is a product of their academy and made his debut for them in April 2013. He has since become a Serbia international and has moved onto a top European club in Benfica, of whom he signed for on a free transfer in July 2016 after his contract at Partizan expired.

A move to the Premier League could be on the cards for the winger if Fulham are to get promoted from the Championship this season. He would be some coup by the London side, especially if they can beat Arsenal to signing him. Zivkovic could favour a move to the Cottagers over the Gunners as they would offer more guarantees of regular first-team action.

It will be interesting to see what happens with regards to this story and it is one for Fulham fans to keep an eye on.
