The first is always the best, am I right? Well it certainly is the case for Monk. He initially became the caretaker player-manager of Swansea after the sacking of Michael Laudrup and it turned out to be a great move as he would save them from being relegated to the Sky Bet Championship.
The following season would be a huge success for Swansea as they would beat the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal on the way to an 8th placed finish, the highest they have ever been in their history. Unfortunately Monk’s reign was ended after a poor run of results, though this was a sacking that was criticised by many in the national media. But despite that, it was the best reign Monk has had as a manager.
