Fulham keen on deal for Newcastle United striker if they get promoted

Fulham are keen on making Alexsander Mitrovic’s move from Newcastle United permanent, as per a report by HITC Sport.

However, a deal hinges on whether the London club will be promoted to the Premier League or not.

The Serbian striker joined Fulham on loan until the end of the season in January and has impressed so far for them. He has scored 2 goals and has been a hit at Craven Cottage.

He offers them something different and someone who can hold the ball up for them and then bring others into play. That is why Slavisa Jokanovic sees him as a great long-term option and one who he wants to sign on a permanent basis.

Mitrovic has had experience of getting promotion from the Championship before which will help Fulham for the rest of this campaign. He was part of Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United side who won the league title last season. However, since getting promoted his chances in the first-team have been limited, hence why they were eager to send him out on loan.

The 23 year-old had previously played for Teleoptik, Partizan and Anderlecht before he moved to England in 2015 to sign for Newcastle. The Magpies paid around £13 million to lure him to St. James’s Park. You would not say he has been a flop at Newcastle because he has had some decent moments for them, but Benitez never seemed to be a fan.

Promotion with Fulham and a move back to the Premier League would be the perfect scenario for Mitrovic. This is certainly one to keep an eye on.
