Jackson, Barnsley provide update on injured defender

Barnsley provide update on injured defender

Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley have provided an update following Adam Jackson’s injury last night.

The 23-year-old defender received oxygen while on the pitch following a mid-air collision with Hull City player Jon Toral. Both players had to receive lengthy medical attention and were forced to leave the field to be replaced.

Barnsley have since announced, however, that Jackson was treated by medical staff from both Sky Bet Championship clubs. Following the game, Jackson was conscious and able to talk to his team-mates and family without needing a visit to the hospital.

Speaking about Jackson’s injury, Jose Morais said: “I was so sorry for that to happen to him. I’m sorry because it’s the health of a player and you get concerned about these situations. I’m sorry again because he really wanted to be on the pitch until the end of the game, but I am happy now because everything seems to be good.

“It looks like he is back to being healthy. I have had a chat with him and seen him smiling and eat. It makes me feel that he is now ok and I am happy for that. Our medical staff were excellent, they got on to see Adam straight away and helped him to regain consciousness. We’ll keep looking at Adam closely over the coming days and make sure he is ok, he is an important player for us.”

Morais added: “I don’t know the condition of Toral, I haven’t seen him, but I know it was a heavy collision for both players so we would like to send our best to him as well. Both players had to come off and it isn’t nice to see, I think it changed the game for the players out there and we hope both Adam and Jon recover quickly.”
