Fulham’s on-loan striker Aleksandar Mitrovic targets promotion to the Premier League with the Cottagers, accoridng to getwestlondon.
Since signing for Fulham on-loan from Newcastle United, Mitrovic has proved a success. Two goals in his previous two games have made him a fan-favourite and players and supporters alike are now targetting a potential promotion to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old Serbian has added an extra piece of quality to Fulham’s attacking jigsaw, providing the Cottagers’ a goalscoring threat to convert the chances produced by their creative outlets such as Ryan Fredericks, Matt Targett and Tom Cairney.
The Serbian has one-eye on being included in Serbia’s squad for this summer’s World Cup, however his primary focus is promotion to England’s top-flight with the London side.
“My first target is to get promoted with Fulham directly first, if we can, the second thing is the World Cup.
“I will leave World Cup until the end of the season, but at the moment I’m really focused with Fulham, the team and my game and try improve in training and help the team every game I can.
“It’s a good feeling to be here and I am looking forward to every game and I want to play and get on the pitch, this is the reason I’m here.
“I think Fulham needs me and I need Fulham, we both need each other and I’m really happy.”
The Serbian admitted that Magpies’ boss Rafe Benitez gave him a tough target of scoring 25 times during his temporary spell away from St James Park, however he is more focused on succeeding as a team rather than personal achievements.
“I don’t think about Rafa, about Newcastle, I am a Fulham player, I’m here and want to get Fulham promoted – this is our target.
“My target is of course to score as many as I can, but first my target is to try help the team every day.
“Of course I wish Newcastle all the best, I hope they will stay in the league, they deserve it because they have a good team, good fans and a good manager.
“I hope they will stay in the league and in the summer we will see what happens but I’m happy here, focused here and looking forward to playing every game.
“My only target is to help Fulham to get promoted.”
