Tottenham Hotspur eye £10 million deal for Sheffield United star

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks in the summer, according to The Sun.

The report suggests the Premier League side are in negotiations with the Blades and are hopeful of agreeing a deal of around £10 million for him.

The 20 year-old has burst onto the scene at Sheffield United this season and has caught the eye of many. He is seen as one of the brightest young talents outside of the top flight and he will have many big clubs on his tail.

It appears that Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for him at the moment. They could be an attractive club for Brooks to sign for, as their manager Mauricio Pochettino likes to give youth a chance and they will be playing in a sparkling new stadium next season and are on course for Champions League football as well.

Sheffield United fans will be hoping they can hold onto Brooks in the summer but may have to resign to losing him at some point. He did sign a new contract until the summer of 2021 in October so it could take a big bid to lure him away from Bramall Lane.

Brooks, who has made two caps for Wales, started his career at Manchester City but joined Sheffield United in 2014. He spent part of last season on loan at FC Halifax and was set to join Chesterfield in the summer but the Blades pulled the plug on that loan deal. They have not looked back since but now face a battle to hold onto him.
