Reported Leeds United and Leicester City target George Hirst will feature for current club Sheffield Wednesday for the first time this season on Friday according to the Sheffield Star.

The 19-year-old Sheffield born hotshot was a Toulon Tournament winner with England Under-20s last summer but a contractual dispute with his club has seen the player fail to make a single appearance at any level for Sheffield Wednesday this term.

Hirst is out of contract at Hillsborough at the end of the current campaign and it has previously been reported that both Leeds United and Leicester City are weighing up moves for the talented youngster.

It has now been revealed that Hirst has resumed training with Wednesday and the player could make his long-awaited comeback for The Owls when their Under-23 side take on one of the striker’s admirers in the form of Leeds United on Friday.

The Leeds United coaching staff are undoubtedly set to run the rule over Hirst during the match, however, his return to action may indicate that the youngster’s career with Sheffield Wednesday is not certain to end just yet.

Hirst has scored goals freely for The Owls at various youth levels and the player made his senior debut for the club last season. The forward was the joint top scorer at the Toulon Tournament in France last summer with four goals.
