Birmingham head coach Steve Cotterill was disappointed with his team’s performance as they ended up playing a style that suited Millwall.
He told the club website: “I’m disappointed with our performance today, certainly in the first half. We looked like we couldn’t get any tempo into the game and that suited them (Millwall). We needed one of those shots that were on target to get deflected the other way because we had a few deflected wide today and it hasn’t gone right for us. The tempo today was surprising to me because I haven’t seen that coming into a game. That was a big thing for me today. And you need that in your home games, especially when you’re going to play against a team that was quite happy to sit in. There was no pace, there were two banks of four and it was difficult to try and find spaces and we need to move the ball quicker when we get into those and we didn’t do that well enough today.”
