Six Manchester United youngsters Morais should nab for Barnsley

Scott McTominay (attacking midfield)

21-year-old McTominey is touted as one of the next players to break through big at Old Trafford, and that breakthrough has started already. The young Lancaster-born attacking midfield player already has five Premier League appearances to his name this season. His league début came against Bournemouth in mid-December where the youngster played a full 90 minutes. His last appearance was a 13-minute appearance off the bench in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle United. He’s also featured in three Champions League ties this season against Benfica and CSKA Moscow. In total McTominey has made 28 appearances for Manchester United U23 (three goals) and 14 appearances for the first team.

Joe Riley (left-back)

Blackpool-born Riley is another player that new Barnsley boss Morais might want to tap up old pal Mourinho for. The 21-year-old already has experience in the Football League, having spent a half-season on loan at Sheffield United last season – featuring just twice for the Blades. So far this season the young defender has featured 15 times for Manchester United’s U23 side in the Premier League 2 competition – scoring in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur U23s. Appearance-wise, he also has represented the first team at Old Trafford twice – once in the 3-0 win over Shrewsbury in the 2016 FA Cup and once in the 5-1 Europa League 2016 win over FC Midtjylland. In total he has 44 appearances under his belt for Manchester United’s U23s and is a 2015/16 U21 Premier League winner and a 2016 FA Cup winner.

Devonte Redmond (central midfield)

Central midfielder Redmond is another highly thought of player on the books at Old Trafford. The 19-year-old has just returned from a half-season loan at League One Scunthorpe United, featuring in one League One tie, four Checkatrade Trophy ties and two Carabao Cup ties for the Iron. In total Redmond has made 44 appearances for Manchester United’s U23 side, scoring six times since the move up from the youth set-up at Old Trafford. Like Scott McTominey and Joe Riley, he was also a member of Manchester United’s 2016/17 side that won the U21 Premier League.

The final three players contain some of Manchester United’s most highly regarded talents.
