The January transfer window in the Championship turned out to be another exciting one with plenty of signings and departures. There were some moves that raised a few eyebrows, here are 5 of the most unexpected transfers-

Tim Cahill, Millwall- Not many were expecting the 37 year-old to return to England in January. His move back to Millwall, where he played almost 20 years ago, did come out of nowhere but makes sense as he aims to get into Australia’s team for the World Cup in the summer.

Darren Bent, Burton Albion- The former England striker joined Burton on loan from Derby in a surprise loan deal. The former Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland star once joined Aston Villa for £24 million and was once seen as one of the best strikers in the top flight, but now faces the challenge of trying to keep Burton in the Championship.

Rafa Mir, Wolves- The highly rated 20 year-old striker joined Wolves from Valencia. This move raised some eyebrows as he has been linked with Barcelona in the past. It appears Wolves have a very exciting talent on their hands.

Alexander Mitrovic, Fulham- Not many people expected to see he Serbia international back in the Championship. He looked set to leave Newcastle to join Anderlecht but when that move fell through, promotion chasing Fulham swooped in and signed him on loan on deadline day.

Jon Flanagan, Bolton- He was part of the Liverpool team who nearly won the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers alongside Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard. He was being tipped as a future England star, but his career has taken a turn for the worse. He now finds himself on loan at relegation threatened Bolton.
