Middlesbrough loan stars hailed by Bury boss

Bury manager Ryan Lowe has praised the quality of on loan Middlesbrough duo Connor Ripley and George Miller as the Lancashire club continue to battle to beat the drop in Sky Bet League One.

Both players are on loan at Gigg Lane until the end of the season and are gaining plenty of first team experience with The Shakers.

Bury drew 2-2 at Bradford City on Saturday to extend their unbeaten league run to four matches, Goalkeeper Ripley put in a solid performance while teammate Miller’s contribution was huge with the player heading in a 95th-minute leveller as The Shakers earned a share of the spoils in smash and grab circumstances.

When speaking to The72 after the match, Bury boss Lowe highlighted the quality provided by the two players.

“He’s a Championship keeper” Lowe said when referring to Ripley’s performance.

“We are fortunate to have him but there are a few little things which I can be ultra-critical on.

“I know he can give us more and will get better, he’s getting better with the games which he plays.

“Ultimately, his job is to keep the ball out of the net and we know what we get with Connor.”

On the subject of striker Miller, Lowe added “George (Miller) will get the headlines for scoring the goal but that’s what he is there to do.

“He’s paid to score goals, ultimately that’s his job.

“That being said, he has settled in well and scored four goals in four games now.”

Miller has regained his goalscoring touch since re-signing for Bury on loan last month. The player had not scored a goal in competitive football all season prior to his recent return to Gigg Lane.
