Former Liverpool and Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy has been listed as the odds-on favourite for the managerial vacancy at Sky Bet League One club Oxford United according to the latest odds provided by English Football League sponsors Sky Bet.

The U’s are searching for a new manager after sacking former boss Pep Clotet last month following a poor run of results.

A number of potential candidates have been linked with the vacancy including the likes of Everton Development Squad manager David Unsworth and former Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and England defender Sol Campbell.

According to the latest odds provided by English Football League sponsors Sky Bet, former Wales international frontman Bellamy is the 1/3 favourite for the role at the Kassam Stadium.

Bellamy is yet to confirm his interest in the vacancy however he has long been tipped to begin a career in management after working as a youth coach at Cardiff City. The former striker was most recently linked with the Wales job prior to Ryan Giggs’ appointment into the role last month.

Oxford United returned to winning ways last weekend when they were 3-2 winners over Charlton Athletic at The Valley. The club currently occupy 10th position in the Sky Bet League One table and caretaker boss Derek Fazakerley is overseeing day-to-day matters while the search for a permanent manager rumbles on.
