Hull City midfielder in talks over a move to Swedish giants

Hull City midfielder Seb Larsson is in talks with Swedish side AIK, as per a report by the Hull Daily Mail.

The Sweden international’s contract with Hull expires in the summer meaning he is free to leave for nothing. Allsvenskan giants AIK, who are based in Stockholm, looks his most likely destination.

Larsson was released by Sunderland after their relegation from the Premier League last season and he joined Hull City on a free transfer. He signed a one-year deal at the KCOM Stadium and has been a first-team regular for the struggling Tigers this season having played 28 times for them.

The 32 year-old is a vastly experienced midfielder with over 450 career appearances. These whispers of him talking to AIK will not be helpful for Hull City in their relegation battle to avoid dropping into League One.

Larsson joined Arsenal when he was 16 and played 3 times for the Gunners before moving Birmingham City, initially on loan in 2006 before signing for them on a permanent deal in 2007 for £1 million. He played over 200 games for the Blues before leaving them to join Sunderland on a free transfer in 2011.

He spent six seasons with the Black Cats in the Premier League before being released in the summer and joining Hull. He is also just 4 caps short of making 100 caps for Sweden and is hoping to reach that at this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

It seems very likely that Larsson will leave Hull when his contract expires in the summer with a move to AIK potentially in the pipeline. The Tigers could do without these distractions though.
