Reading set to part company with their manager

Reading are on the brink of sacking their manager Jaap Stam, according to the Daily Mail.

The Royals have been in terrible form and have only won one game in ten matches. They were booed off by their fans in their last match against Millwall at home where they lost 2-0. They are currently in 18th position in the Championship and only five points above the drop zone.

Jaap Stam is set to get the boot after their stuttering campaign so far. The Dutchman guided them to the Play-Off final last season and it was only a penalty shoot-out loss to Huddersfield Town that prevented his Reading side from being promoted to the Premier League in his first season in charge.

They lost Danny Williams and Ali Al-Habsi in the summer which has affected them. They were two key players for them last season and their signings have not matched them.

They have not managed to build on last season and have not reached the same heights. Perhaps it was his great performance last season that has kept Stam in his job until now, many Reading fans have been frustrated for months now but they have stuck with Stam.

Saturday’s defeat to the hands of Millwall looks to be the final straw for Stam and the Royals could find themselves looking for a new manager in the coming days. It is an attractive job with a great stadium and there will no doubt be interest from a lot of manager’s in this potential job opening.
