One Championship club has confirmed relatively early that they won’t be engaging in any more business on transfer deadline day……and that is Norwich City. Head coach Daniel Farke has completed his business, both in and out, and shall keep this squad in place for the remainder of the campaign.
It has been a fairly productive window for Norwich in relation to faces entering Carrow Road. They have however lost some notable faces too. Nevertheless, freshness was required in order to get their season back on track after a disappointing first half.
In total, five new faces have joined the club. Dennis Srbeny, Onel Hernandez and Kenny McLean penned permanent switches. The deal for McLean saw him instantly loaned out to Aberdeen, where he had just joined from. Marcus Edwards and Moritz Leitner signed temporary loan moves for the remainder of the campaign as well.
Alex Pritchard was the high-profile departure from the club, and Premier League Huddersfield Town paid a big fee for his services. Long-serving Russell Martin exited for Rangers on loan, whilst striker Cameron Jerome linked up with Championship rivals Derby County permanently. Harry Toffolo stayed in the Championship too, moving to Millwall, that also a full-time switch. Marcel Franke, Yanic Wildschut, Todd Cantwell and Steven Naismith all have new clubs for the coming months, before returning to Norwich in the summer.
Sporting Director Stuart Webber said he was ‘really pleased’ with the transfer window business done by Norwich. He also highlighted the point that the average age of the squad has been decreased, reducing the wage bill and adding great depth to Farke’s squad.
