Second Premier League midfielder set for Nottingham Forest move

The Mirror reports that Watford midfielder Ben Watson is set to complete a Deadline Day switch to Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest. New Hornets boss Javi Gracia is prepared to let the player leave in search of more regular first-team football.

It has already been a busy day at the City Ground so far for Nottingham Forest and recently appointed head coach Aitor Karanka. They have already raided Watford for goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, whilst midfielder Ashkan Dejagah is a former Watford player, although most recently he was with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Watson is set to be the latest name through the door.

Watson did appear for Watford recently in their Emirates FA Cup defeat away to Southampton at the weekend. However he is now set to pen a temporary switch away from Vicarage Road for the remainder of the campaign. He has pulled out of the squad for tonight’s Premier League encounter against Stoke City in order to finalise the move prior to tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline. Newcastle United’s Jack Colback is believed to be another new man set to join, adding even more options to the midfielders already at Karanka’s disposal.

32-year-old Watson is perhaps best remembered for his time at Wigan Athletic, where his last gasp header past Joe Hart handed the Latics FA Cup victory back in 2013. He has however been restricted to just eleven appearances for his parent club this season, opening up the possibility of a move away on deadline day. Nottingham Forest will soon confirm the deal, all being well.
