Tomlin, Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest in talks to swap forwards

Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest in talks to swap forwards

Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest are in talks about swapping Lee Tomlin and Jamie Ward according to a report from HITC Sport.

Reports today have been saying that Ward has been close to signing for Millwall which would mark their 2nd transfer of the day. However Cardiff are moving in and are going to offer Forest something a bit more tantalising to make sure Ward is one of their players by the end of the day. Instead of just offering straight up cash, they are going to offer one of their own forwards in a trade, with Tomlin heading to Forest and Ward going the other way.

This is a deal that many would expect Forest to be fans of. Their head coach Aitor Karanka is looking to bring in a lot of players on deadline day as he looks to revamp the squad in his image as much as he can in a short transfer window. And Tomlin would be a signing that Karanka would be very happy with. They worked together at Middlesbrough when they got promoted to the Premier League and he would love to reunite in the East Midlands.

For Cardiff, they would be getting a veteran forward. Ward has been playing in the Sky Bet Championship for many years and while he has never been a massive goal machine, he has been very dependable and is a player that will pop up in important occasions and contribute. And with Cardiff looking to get promoted, that could be a very useful player to have.
