West Ham United are going to beat Crystal Palace to the signing of Preston North End’s Jordan Hugill according to a report from the Lancashire Evening Post.
While Preston fans have accepted the fact Hugill was set to leave the club since he was not included in last night’s squad for the match against Nottingham Forest, there was a question of where he would end up. At the start of the day, it seemed like it would be Crystal Palace who’d sign Hugill. The Eagles had been confident of signing the striker though reports said they had been haggling with Preston as they looked to reduced the fee.
This seems to have blown up in Palace’s face though as now it is West Ham who appear the most likely to sign Hugill. This report has said that they have agreed a fee with the former Port Vale man and now they are in personal talks to try and complete the deal. This will be a blow to Palace who thought that this would be a sure thing in the morning but it will be a boost for West Ham who have been struggling this season and will hope Hugill will add the goals they need.
Hugill has been in top form for the Lilywhites this season and it’s been no surprise to see him tracked by sides in the Premier League. He has scored ten goals in 31 appearances with the latest coming in the 3-2 loss to Middlesbrough. And now he will get a chance to play in the Premier League should this move be completed.
